03 October 2006 US inflation up 0.2% Core US consumer price inflation rose slightly by 0.2% in August, however annual inflation was recorded at an 11-year high. The core inflation index, which excludes food and energy, rose to an annual 2.5%, the highest level since the 2.5% level reached in April 1995 and was above the Fed’s comfort range of 1 to 2%.
