10 August 2005 US interest rates rise once again The US Federal Reserve has continued in its quest to stamp out inflationary pressures on the US economy by increasing interest rates for the tenth time in succession. This latest increase, which was widely anticipated, has seen interest rates rise by a quarter of one percent, from 3.25% to 3.5%, as the Fed struggles to curtail house price inflation accompanied by fears over the impact of higher oil prices.
