19 June 2006 US inflation continues to rise US inflation rose faster than forecast for the third successive month in May, fuelling the prospect that interest rates will continue to rise beyond this month. The core consumer price index, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.3% in May, takes the annual rate to 2.4%.
