03 May 2006 US economy continues to grow GDP rose at an annual rate of 4.8% for the first quarter of 2006, compared to a 1.7% increase witnessed during the fourth quarter 2005. The rebound, which primarily reflected positive contributions from personal consumption expenditures, was widely anticipated following a hurricane-hit fourth quarter performance.
