15 June 2006 UK Retail Sales Continue to Recover Latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that the spring upturn in retail sales in May was sustained, with significant contributions from sales at non-specialised (department) stores and clothing stores. The volume of retail sales in the three months March to May was 1.0 per cent higher than in the previous three months. This follows zero growth in the three months to April and compares with an increase of 0.2 per cent at the same time in 2005.
