15 June 2006 UK Consumer Price Inflation Rises The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen by 2.2% in the year to May, up from 2.0% in April. The higher inflation levels are primarily due to fuel increases. The All-items Retail Price Index (RPI) has recorded a rise to 3.0% up from 2.6%. The All-items excluding mortgage interest payments (RPIX) recorded a 2.9% increase, also up from the 2.4% recorded in April.
