Statistics South Africa has reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen by 3.4% in the year to November, down from 4.0% in October.

The lower inflation rate at November 2005 compared with that at October 2005 is primarily due to a decrease in transport and food prices.

Similarly, the year-on-year consumer price index excluding mortgage rate changes (CPIX) rose by 3.7% in November from 4.4% in October.
