30 November 2006 South Africa GDP growth eases The annual GDP growth in South Africa slowed to 4.7% in the third quarter from 5.5% in the second quarter. The wholesale and retail sector, and the transport, storage and communications industries, reported slower output growth. However, the construction output continued to grow rapidly due to the preparation works for hosting the 2010 soccer World Cup. In terms of annual inflation, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased to 5.4% in October from 5.3% in September.
