Statistics South Africa has reported that year-on-year consumer price index (CPI) has increased to 4.4% in September 2005 from 3.9% in August.

The year-on-year consumer price index which excludes interest rates on mortgage bonds (CPIX) rose by 4.7% in September, slightly down from August when the CPIX rose by 4.8%.
