26 April 2007 South Africa’s consumer price inflation rises 5.5% year-on-year in March South Africa’s consumer price inflation excluding mortgage rates (CPIX) increased to 5.5% year-on-year in March, from 4.9% year-on-year in February. This was due to an increase from a combination of factors such as transport costs, education, household operations and cigarettes, cigars and tobacco.
