04 August 2006 UK interest rates increase to 4.75% The Office of Statistics South Africa has reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen by 4.9% in the year to June, up from 3.9% in May 2006, its highest level since August 2003. The annual percentage change in CPIX which is the Consumer Price Index excluding interest rates on mortgage bonds recorded a 4.8% increase in June 2006, up from 4.1% in May, the biggest increase since August 2005.
