New Zealand Interest Rate Rise to Record 7.0%

New Zealand raised interest rates by a quarter point to a record 7 percent in an attempt to calm inflation which is currently at a five-year high.

New Zealand Governor Alan Bollard explained that further interest rates may follow if consumer borrowing and demand keeps rising.
