23 February 2006 Malaysia economic growth declined slightly in 2005 Malaysia's economy rose by 5.3% in 2005, according to the Statistics Department, slower than the previous year's growth of 7.1%. The manufacturing, services and agricultural sectors were the major contributors to the economic growth, growing by 4.9%, 6.5% and 2.1%, while the mining and construction sectors declined, by 2% and 1.6% respectively. The economic growth in 2006 is forecast to remain flat, at a rate of 5.5%.
