21 March 2007 Land Fill Tax to increase by 33% in 2008 Gordon Brown, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced today in his eleventh budget speech, that commencing 1st April 2008 land fill tax will increase to £32.00/. Land fill tax is currently at £21.00/tonne and is set to increase to £24.00/tonne on 1st April 2007. Further increases of £8/tonne are planned each year until 2011.
