22 February 2007 Japan interest rates up Japan’s central bank has raised interest rates to 0.5% from 0.25%. The decision to raise rates came after strong growth in the fourth quarter of 2006, when gross domestic product grew 4.8 per cent on an annualised basis. This is only its second interest rate rise in more than six years.
