01 December 2006 Indian economy grows 9.2% India, Asia’s second-fastest growing economy, expanded 9.2% in the three months to September, according to provisional data released by the Central Statistical Organisation. The latest expansion, the sixth quarter out of the past seven in which GDP has exceeded 8%, was fuelled by sharply rising consumer credit and government spending.
