05 March 2007 Hong Kong Economy strengthens Hong Kong’s economy expanded by 7.0% at an annual rate in the fourth quarter 2006, from 6.7% in the third quarter, making this the strongest performance since the first quarter. Private consumption growth climbed to 5.8%, a two-year high, while government spending recovered after two consecutive quarters of decline, to rise by 2.4%.
