22 November 2006 Egypt consumer price inflation rises Egypt’s consumer price inflation increased to 11.8% year on year in October from 9.5% in September. Accelerating costs for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which hold a large weighting in the consumer price index, were responsible for most of the inflation. The cost of housing and utilities, another large component, rose by 6% for a third consecutive month while transport costs expanded by 10.4%
