31 March 2006 Emerging Economies in East Asia Grow 6.6% The World Bank announced yesterday that emerging economies in East Asia are set to grow on average 6.6 per cent this year. Economies such as China and South Korea declined to 6.8 per cent in 2005 from 7.5 per cent the year before. The slowdown last year was largely fuelled by behaviour in North-East Asia and Middle-Income South-East economies; however China showed modest growth of 9.9 per cent.
