08 June 2006 Canada reveals accelerated economic growth The Canadian economy accelerated rapidly during the first quarter of 2006. GDP grew by an annualised 3.8%, driven by solid gains in private consumption and business investment. The upturn in business investment largely reflected a rebound in residential construction activity supported by strong growth in non-residential structures as well as new investment in plant and machinery.
