03 May 2006 Australia's Interest Rates Rise to 5.75 per cent Australia's interest rates changed for the first time in fourteen months, rising a quarter percentage point to 5.75 per cent today. Australia's central bank has followed the same suit as fellow nations such as China, U.S. and Canada, attempting to control inflation as commodity prices reach record highs.
